Effective October 30, 2025, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will implement an Interim Final Rule (IFR) ending the automatic extension of employment authorization documents (EADs) for renewal applications filed on or after October 30, 2025. Under this new rule, automatic extensions for EADs filed under the adjustment of status pending category (c9) and H-4 EAD (C26) are no longer eligible for the 540 day automatic extension.
